McCartney Makes Peace With Sacked Publicist

SIR Paul McCartney has made peace with the publicist he sacked in acrimonious circumstances two years ago (04).The former Beatle sent Geoff Baker packing after 15 years' service after he discovered his associate had been selling his possessions to pay off debtsand Baker's cocaine habit had also left McCartney unsatisfiedwith his work. McCartney said, "(His) behaviour has not reached the professional standards I had come to expect," and Baker recently admitted, "I deserved to be fired." But the Hey Jude legend has offered a conciliatory hand to Baker by sending him a rose bush to mark his 50th birthday.Baker, who has quit cocaine but still smokes marijuana, says, "I shall sit under it and smoke a celebration joint or two."
