My Tribute To Billy Preston

Today we are mourning the lost of an amazing musician and a great man. The death of Billy Preston has shocked Beatles fans all around the world and today I’m going to talk about what Billy brought into this world. In the very tense Get Back/ Let it be sessions the Beatles brought in different musicians to ease tension within the band and one of them was Billy Preston. John Lennon thought so highly of Billy and he told Paul McCartney he wanted Billy Preston to become the fifth Beatle. Although Paul and the rest of the Beatles didn’t want this he has always received the name the “fifth Beatle” because of this and his contribution to the Let It Be album. Billy Preston was one of only two people to receive credit on a Beatles single. He played with the Beatles at their last concert on the rooftop in 1969. After his work with the Beatles he went on to work with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon on their solo album. Some other musicians he worked with included Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Sly Stone, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Jackson 5 and Eric Clapton. His biggest song came when he co-wrote “You Are So Beautiful” which became a classic when Joe Cocker released it in 1975. Billy was struggling with kidney problems in the past few years and has been in a comma since November 21st. Billy we will remember you for all of your contributions to society and all your incredible music. I'm speechless right now and all I have to say is just “Let It Be”.

Without Billy Preston would The Beatles have forged through to complete "Let It Be"??? Personally I love the album and after watching "The Beatles Anthology" like twenty times I must say that I owe a lot of thanks to Billy Preston for helping the band get through that rough patch and coming together to make a wonderful album.
