Shooting the Beatles

Mira Nair has her hands full. Her film on Jhumpa Lahiri’s book, The Namesake, is ready to release and she’s about to start work on a film on the Beatles when they were in Hrishikesh. “Not many people know that they wrote 48 songs while in India, including White Album,” says Nair. Up ahead: Nair has the Hollywood remake of Munnabhai MBBS called Gangsta AD, in which Chris Tucker has a starring role. Nair is open to casting an Indian girl for the film. “I don’t mind a couple of actors from the original film either,” insists Nair.
