Sir Paul McCartney is celebrating his 64th birthday - an age he immortalised in song decades ago. McCartney is said to have written When I'm Sixty-Four for his father and it was released by The Beatles on the 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The upbeat song about growing old features the refrain: "Will you still need me, Will you still feed me, When I'm sixty-four?"It mentions going bald and renting a holiday cottage on the Isle of Wight "if it's not too dear".While Sir Paul still has a good head of hair and is unlikely to have any money problems - he made £48.5 million last year from record sales and his United States tour - he might not have envisaged being separated from his second wife at this age.Last month he and Heather announced they were to split after four years of marriage, during which they had a daughter, Beatrice Milly, now two.Sir Paul was reported to be spending his birthday at his estate in Peasmarsh, East Sussex. His spokesman said: "It's likely he's spending it with his family."

Hi I found this link because I was looking for other people blogging on this. I love the Beatles, however, I think it's really sad that this whole fuss is being made. Apart from a few decent ditties with Wings and Ebony and Ivory, what has he done since? I can't help wonder why he want to be reminded about his age in this way and when he wrote great songs?
