Beatles Love new show

Surviving Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr both attended the world premiere of a circus-style musical in tribute to the band's work and history.

Love, by acrobatics troupe Cirque du Soleil but produced by the Beatles own company, debuted at Los Vegas' Mirage theatre last night, with Sir Paul and Ringo dedicating the performance to John Lennon and George Harrison, who died in 1980 and 2001 respectively.

Ringo said: "It was emotional because two of us aren't there. So it really comes home when you're watching this."

After the show had finished, Sir Paul clambered onto the stage to say: "This is for John and George."

The mixture of spectacular acrobatics and musical montages of the Fab Four's own work, which was two years in production, also went down well with Yoko Ono, John Lennon's widow.

She said: "All this time when I was working on this show in the rehearsals, I thought 'oh, John should be here,' That's the only thing that I regret, the fact that he's not here, because he would have enjoyed it so much."

Olivia Harrison, the widow of George, was also at last night's premiere.
